BSMHD Governance Review
The Trustees of BSMHD met on 30 November 2006 to consider updating the governance structure of BSMHD. At the members meeting in Leeds on 27 March 2007 the planned changes were outlined.
The main changes are to:
- Abolish the BSMHD Council which has not functioned for some years
- Create a Board of Trustees, consisting of about 8 Trustees, all elected by the members
- Honorary Officers to be appointed by the Board of Trustees
- Allow private sector organisations to become full members
- Regularise the use of ‘deaf’ and ‘Deaf’ in the constitution, always using ‘deaf’
- Enable payments to be made to organisations that are connected to Trustees
A detailed paper will be sent to all members shortly and members will be asked to vote on the changes at the AGM, which will be held during the lunch break at the Annual Conference.
